The High Speed Engineering Billet Oil Pump Backing Plate is a precision-engineered upgrade designed to strengthen and stabilise the Nissan RB-series oil pump assembly. Manufactured from high‑grade billet aluminium, this backing plate prevents flex and distortion under high RPM, significantly improving reliability for performance and motorsport RB25DET and RB26DETT engines.
Compatibility:
- Suits all Nissan RB26DETT engines with 77 mm outer rotor gear
- Suits all RB25DET engines – including NCVS and NEO variants
- Designed for N1 oil pumps and revised OE pumps that use a 77 mm outer rotor gear
How to Identify Correct Fitment:
- 77 mm OD pump gears: Correct for this backing plate. These pumps have 7 perimeter bolts plus 1 central bolt (total 8 bolts).
- 81 mm OD early-style pump gears: Not compatible. Early pumps have 7 bolts including the centre bolt (7 total), and require a different backing plate.

Notes
- It is the engine builders responsibility to ensure that all components are clean, undamaged and free running BEFORE and AFTER installation.
- Gears must be assembled initially with clean engine oil or assembly grease. Do NOT run dry!
- With the inner and outer gear sitting in front of you and the nose/seal diameter facing toward you, the outer gear should be laid over the inner gear with the “wave” profile in a clockwise orientation. The 2 wave “points” should be facing in the same direction (see assembly instructions).
- These gears are direct replacements for standard gears. If something doesn’t fit easily, then something isn’t right. You should not have to modify the housing and once installed, the gears should spin freely, with no restriction other than the oil seal.
